Why Have The Olsen Twins Detached Themselves From Social Media?
Even though social media has become a virtual necessity in the field of entertainment, not every celebrity is its biggest fan. Since social media magnifies celebrities’ life and puts them in the spotlight, few of the stars have vowed to stay away from the seemingly toxic world. After being famous almost their entire lives, the Olsen twins have taken a step back from being in the public eye. Unlike other famous celebrities, they don’t seem to be interested in making social media their Dear Dairy moments.
In a 2011 interview with the Olsen twins at their fashion label The Row, the sister talked about their absence from social media. Mary-Kate said, “We’ve spent our whole lives trying to not let people have that accessibility, so it would go against everything we’ve done in our lives.”
Also in a rare interview with The Edit in 2017, Ashely expressed her disinterest in joining social media and said, “We don’t dive into that world of social media, we don’t have Instagram or Facebook. We’ve stayed quite sheltered in that sense.” And yet after 12 years, nothing has changed!

Why Did Olsen Twin’s Other Sister Elizabeth Olsen Delete Her Social Media?
Widely known for her role as the Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen has evolved to become the most promising actress in the Marvel Universe. Following her sister’s footprints, Elizabeth Olsen has also deleted her social media account, though her reasons were completely unrelated to that of her sisters.
In August 2020, Elizabeth Olsen received backlash for not posting a social media tribute to Black Panther costar, Chadwick Boseman. And after receiving the social media wrath, Olsen deleted her social media account. Although in 2018, the actress made it absolutely clear that she was not interested in joining Facebook or Twitter.
‘The WandaVision’ star also admitted, “Every day I think I should delete it. I still don’t know why I’m on it, then I think well ‘I guess I want to promote Avengers, and then I find myself putting something private up there, and I think, ‘This is stupid, why did I do that? I should delete it immediately’”.
