It has become the order of the day for the internet to suck the fun out of everything exciting. People are waiting for the Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starrer ‘Barbie.’ However, there are some people who are upset with Ryan Gosling’s casting as Ken. The internet believes he’s not young enough for the role.
Ryan Gosling has shot down such criticisms. He thinks nothing of this backlash except that it’s hypocritical. He’s reminding the haters that in the history of Barbie, Ken has never been a popular figure. Ken only adds to the aesthetic and has no substantial story. Ryan Gosling isn’t taking the internet backlash about him being unworthy of Ken seriously.

Ryan Gosling Calls Out Internet’s Irrelevant Backlash Over His Age
Ryan Gosling, who channels Ken in the live-action telling of ‘Barbie’ lore, defended his casting in an interview with GQ. The ‘La La Land’ actor is surprised at the righteousness of fans, given how nobody has previously held Ken in any regard. The audience is not supposed to care for Ken since he has no fanfare to begin with.
Ryan Gosling told the magazine, “It is funny, this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken. Like you ever thought about Ken before this? And everyone was fine with that, for him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time.’ No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never f***** with Ken. That’s the point.”

Why Did Ryan Gosling Agree To Play Ken In Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’?
To contemplate the offer of playing Ken in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie,’ Ryan Gosling took a walk in his backyard. As if meant to be a sign, he found a Ken doll with its face in the mud. Determined to correct Ken’s reputation, the ‘La La Land’ actor texted Gerwig the picture of Ken with his face in mud and agreed to star in her movie.
The ‘La La Land’ actor recounted this story on ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ while promoting ‘The Gray Man,’ “Best script I’ve ever read. I walk out in the backyard and you know where I found Ken, Jimmy? Face down in the mud next to a squished lemon. I texted it to Greta and said, ‘I shall be your Ken, for this story must be told. ‘”
