The joining of James Gunn as the co-CEO of DC Studios has brought certain changes to the entire franchise. This includes a reboot of the DCEU which has put some projects on hold and some new projects have been announced. Among the upcoming projects, ‘Blue Beetle’ is also included which will mark the introduction of a new superhero.
However, James Gunn’s comments on the film are now leaving netizens divided as they are confused by what he has said.

James Gunn Says ‘Blue Beetle’ Is The First DCEU Character
James Gunn has confirmed that Blue Beetle is the first superhero who will be making his debut in the DCEU. Gunn has appeared on the Inside of You podcast where he said that Blue Beetle will be the first character who would be introduced to the DCEU fans.
The events of ‘Blue Beetle’ and ‘Aquaman’ will also be affected because of everything that happens in ‘The Flash.’ So although ‘Blue Beetle’ and ‘Aquaman’ won’t be a part of the plans made for the DCEU, they would be among the projects released in the shared universe while ‘Superman: Legacy’ will be the first full DCEU movie.
Gunn made his debut in the DCEU back in 2021 with ‘The Suicide Squad.’ Despite receiving positive reviews, the film was a box office flop. Meanwhile, a third film is expected after Gunn joined DC Studios.

‘Blue Beetle’: Release Date, Plot, Cast, And Other Details
‘Blue Beetle’ is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and it is scheduled to be released on August 18, 2023. The lead role will be portrayed by Xolo Mariduena and the rest of the roles will be played by Adriana Barraza, Damian Alcazar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez.
The basic premise will feature Jaime Reyes who finishes his graduation and after returning to his hometown, he becomes a host to a symbiote who is an ancient alien biotechnological relic, Scarab. This gives him powers making him the superhero Blue Beetle.
