The History And Origin Of Doctor Fate
Fans couldn’t keep their calm since the announcement of the Justice League Of America ensemble in Black Adam. In the film, we will see the former James Bond Pierce Brosnan playing Doctor Fate, the disciple of the Egyptian God Nabu. The sorcerer supreme has its origin in Gardner Fox’s written and Howard Sherman’s More Fun Comics Issue No. 55 in 1940. Interestingly, Gardener was inspired by 1923 folklore about King Tutankhamun’s Tomb.
In 1941’s issue, the readers were enlightened about the origin of Dr. Fate. In 1923, an archaeologist Sven Nelson tags his son, Kent Nelson along with him to Mesopotamia. The father-son duo leaves for an expedition in the Valley of Ur to find the temple of Nabu.
During their excursion, Kent fiddles with the Tomb of the Egyptian God Of Wiseness, Nabu which awakens the God. Along with that, the tomb releases a noxious gas that kills Kent’s father.
After the incident, Nabu The Wise takes Kent under its wings. Under the guidance of Nabu, Kent learns the art of sorcery, and at the end of it, Nabu confers him with the signature golden helmet, shroud, and amulet. Soon, Kent comes to North America and establishes himself as Dr. Fate after co-founding the Justice Society Of America.
Powers & Abilities Of Dr. Fate
Doctor Fate in the DC Comics is one of the most powerful contenders to the antagonist, Black Adam. Fate has the sorcery like Doctor Strange and the strength and abilities of Thor. The most common power like other superheroes is flight.
The superhero can maneuver his way in any difficult situation due to guidance and endowment of powers from the Lord of Order. Apart from being a mystic, Dr. Fate has immense strength and can go toe to toe with Superman.
Telekinesis is another power that the JSA founder possesses. He can control and move things with his mind. The source of this particular power is the helmet that Nabu gave him. Doctor Fate can amalgamate different energies into an element making him an energy manipulator.
He creates bolts by collectively channelizing the energy to fight with villains. Invulnerability helps him to swerve any attack from the opponent, be it a bullet or a bolt. He cannot be defeated unless the opponent possesses the cosmic energies or an equivalent sorcerer.
