The DC Universe is going through a lot of changes under the new leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. DC will revamp the franchise with ‘The Flash.’ While several highly anticipated projects are still in the pipeline, many actors have stepped out of the universe. However, there are speculations that Ana de Armas may be the new addition to the universe.
Ana De Armas has successfully created her niche in the big, bad world of Hollywood. The Cuban actress came from Spain to Los Angeles after starring in a Spanish drama series. She debuted in 2015 with the Keanu Reeves-starrer ‘Knock Knock.’ After the success of her Netflix film ‘Blonde,’ the actress has been inundated with many interesting acting roles. The conjecture is that Ana may star as Wonder Woman, replacing Gal Gadot in the franchise. The actress has now cleared the air around the rumors.

Ana De Armas Wants Gal Gadot To Continue ‘Doing A Great Job’
Gal Gadot, since the inception of the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise, has been doing a kickass job saving the world. The Princess of Themyscira has starred in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ ‘Justice League,’ ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘Wonder Woman 1984,’ and ‘Shazam! Fury of Gods.’
But, during the WIRED Autocomplete interview, Ana de Armas was asked, “Will Ana be the next Wonder Woman?” To this, the ‘Deep Water’ actress replied, “Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job. I think she should keep doing it.” Despite Gal Gadot’s confirmation that she will come back for the role, the future of the franchise is still uncertain.

James Gunn Addresses The Third Film Scrapping Rumors
In December 2022, The Hollywood Reporter ran a story reporting about the stalling of the third film in the ‘Wonder Woman’ franchise. Patty Jenkins, the director of the film, submitted the draft of the third film, but due to creative differences, it did not progress. Jenkins released a statement after the film stalled due to major changes happening at the studio.
Patty stated, “I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”
On Twitter, James Gunn also cleared the air about the film. He said, “So, As for the story yesterday in the Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, & some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.” The studio, as per his admission, is in its “transitional period,’ and they are chalking up a plan for the next 10 years for the DC Universe.
