One of the franchises that resurrected DC has been ‘Wonder Woman‘. It also paved the way for female-led superhero films in a genre that is dominated mostly by men.

However, the sad news is that DC isn’t going forward with a third installment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Patty Jenkin’s treatment was rejected by the studio leadership.

Jenkins took to Twitter to issue a statement where she wrote: “Sigh…I’m not one to take about private career matters, but I will not allow inaccuracies to continue. Here are the facts.”

Jenkins said that she never walked out of the project and said “DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”

The director then went on to praise “absolute legend” Lynda Carter, the original Wonder Woman actress. She also called Gal Gadot “the greatest gift I have received in this whole journey. A cherished friend, inspiration, and sister.”

Amid leadership changes in Warner Bros, the company has been laying off employees and canceling films, including Batgirl. The studio execs must have decided not to make the third one because of the mixed response to ‘Wonder Woman 1984‘ and cost management.

The first 2017 ‘Wonder Woman’ proved to be groundbreaking and met with universal acclaim. It also minted around $822.8 million globally at the box office.
