    Elon Musk is the world’s richest man and a super successful business magnet. He owns and has stakes in several companies like Tesla Inc., SpaceX, Twitter, The Boring Company, etc. His diversified business interests as well as his inclination toward futuristic.

    The Beginning Of Elon Musk’s Career

    Musk is the wealthiest man in the world and is known for his diverse business ventures. However, just like a lot of people, he also did odd jobs before making it big.

    When he was 17, Musk left his native South Africa and shifted to Canada in June 1989. He stayed with his cousin and became a Canadian citizen. For a year, he did some odd jobs.

    Musk worked at his cousin’s farm in Waldeck, Saskatchewan, and did things like tending to vegetables and shoveling grain bins. He also went on to cut logs with a chainsaw.

    Later in Vancouver, he was offered the job of cleaning the boiler room of a lumber mill for $18 an hour. These odd jobs helped him in his overall growth and made him realize the importance of labor.

    Musk’s View On His Odd Jobs

    In the book ‘Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future’, the SpaceX founder talked about his odd jobs. He said he had to “put on this hazmat suit and then shimmy through this little tunnel that you can barely fit in.”

    He further said, “Then, you have to shovel, and you take the sand and goop and other residue, which is still steaming hot, and you have to shovel it through the same hole you came in through.”

    30 people started out in the beginning and towards the end, only two people were left including Musk. He later gave up manual labor and started pursuing a graduate degree.
