Russo Brothers Tease A Hercules Reboot
Russo brothers not only direct films and television shows, but they also produce stuff for other filmmakers. A case in point is the critically acclaimed absurdist film ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’
The filmmaker duo talked about the possibility of a Hercules live-action reboot for Disney during a promotional tour. According to Collider, Joe Russo, who is producing the film, said: “It will certainly pay homage to the original with a more modern spin on it. What Anthony and I love about the original is how funny and subversive it is. I think we try to embrace that sense of humor in the remake.”
‘Hercules‘ is currently without a release date or a cast. In June, it was revealed that Guy Ritchie will be directing the film. He has earlier helmed the Aladdin live-action remake for Disney.
The Russos talked in detail about the original 1997 animated film that was well received for its slapstick humor, fourth-wall-breaking characters, and pop culture jokes.
Russo Brothers On Directing Two More MCU Films
In a recent Q&A session, Anthony and Joe Russo talked about returning to direct a superhero film. They said, “Our love for Marvel is based on the books that we read as kids, the books that we fell in love with. The one series that we adored growing up was ‘Secret Wars,'” adding, “It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking.”
“Those two movies were very hard to make. So trying to imagine making another two movies even bigger than those two?” The Russo’s said. “We’re going to have to sleep on that.”
We hope that the directors of ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ bring life to these interesting characters. Their latest film ‘The Gray Man‘ was released on July 22.
