The Olivia Wilde directorial venture was marred with controversies. One incident that took place at the film’s Venice premiere had people believe that Styles actually spat in the hands of Pine. The ‘Wonder Woman‘ actor has now talked about the spit-gate incident in an interview.
Chris Pine Explains Harry Styles’ Spit-Gate
Olivia Wilde’s psychological drama film ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘ was filled with controversies from the get-go. One of those moments took place at the film’s Venice film festival premiere.
At a point, people started pointing out that Harry spits on Pine’s hand who was sitting in the audience clapping for the film. On Wednesday, Pine clarified it in a profile interview for Esquire magazine.
“Harry did not spit on me. Harry’s a very, very kind guy,” Pine said in the video. “It does look indeed like Harry’s spitting on me. He didn’t spit on me.” He further said that the singer leaned down and said, “its just words, isn’t it?”
It was an inside joke among them as they were tired and jet-lacked while answering press questions at the premiere. “And sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes befuddled and you start speaking gibberish. But it’s just words, man.”

Olivia Wilde Also Clarified The Rumor
During her appearance on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert‘, Wilde was asked about the spit-gate incident. “Another one of our weird rumors, Spit-Gate, which you might have heard about, is I think..” Wilde said but was cut off by Colbert.
He asked if Styles actually spit on Pine. Wilde burst into laughter and then responded, “No, he did not.” She added, “But I think it’s a perfect example of, like, people will look for drama anywhere they can. Harry did not spit on Chris, in fact…”
Colbert interrupted her answer by saying, “Only time will tell.” Styles, while doing a tour immediately after the premiere, joked that he went to Venice to spit on Pine.
