Disney’s fan convention, D23 Expo, which celebrates all things Disney, Pixar, Marvel, ‘Star Wars‘ and more, is always filled with exciting announcements and sneak peeks at upcoming projects. This year’s D23, dubbed D23 2024, was no exception as the studio revealed new details, trailers and more for some of its most anticipated upcoming films and shows.
The three-day event kicked off on August 10th with the Disney Entertainment Showcase, a presentation dedicated to sharing new information on Disney, Pixar, Marvel and ‘Star Wars‘ projects. From new animated films to live-action remakes and continuing fan-favorite franchises, D23 2024 had something for every type of Disney fan.

Marvel Studios Presents Exciting Slate
Marvel Studios had a major presence at D23 2024 with new trailers, footage and casting announcements for several highly anticipated MCU projects. Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige kicked things off by promoting ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ before Anthony Mackie shared an exclusive new clip from ‘Captain America: Brave New World‘.
Fans also got a first look at concept art and the title reveal for 2025’s ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘. Additionally, Laura Karpman confirmed she is scoring Captain America 4 while Michael Giacchino teased music from The Fantastic Four.
The studio brought out the casts of ‘Ironheart‘, ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ and ‘Agatha All Along‘. New footage was shown from the Disney+ series while the main casts reunited onstage. Daredevil in particular looks to reintroduce characters like Foggy Nelson.
‘Star Wars’ Expansion
Lucasfilm had several exciting Star Wars reveals in store. Jude Law took the stage to promote the upcoming Disney+ series ‘Skeleton Crew‘. Attendees saw the first trailer and concept art from the story set after Return of the Jedi. Diego Luna also surprised fans to talk more about the second season of Andor.
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni were on hand to tease ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu‘ film with an early title card reveal and new footage showing Grogu in Beskar armor. Representatives from each announced project emphasized how their respective stories will expand upon existing characters and lore within the Star Wars universe.

Disney Flicks And Shows On The Horizon
One of the first films previewed for the animated Disney movies panel was ‘Moana 2‘, with Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson taking the stage. ‘Frozen 3‘ is en route for 2027. ‘The Incredibles 3‘, which will see Brad Bird’s return as director, came as a massive shock. ‘Zootopia 2‘ then got its first poster before footage debuted for Live Action ‘Lilo & Stitch‘. And the major announcement of ‘Toy Story 5‘, with a Gen-Alpha centric plot was all for the animated movie reveals.
On the TV side, the core trio promoting ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ Season 2 teased key scenes like Grover in a wedding dress. ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash‘ was also revealed with its logo, and makes it the third installment of James Cameron’s billion-dollar franchise, set for a 2025 release.
With this just the opening blast for D23 Expo 2024, more news is sure to keep emerging from the most magical convention going. Fans will have to stay tuned to see what else Disney and the company have in store across this ambitious weekend.
