How Did Hagrid Look So Big In ‘Harry Potter’?
Robbie Coltrane portrayed the role of Rubeus Hagrid in all the ‘Harry Potter‘ films. Hagrid was a half-human half-giant, hence he was taller than everyone. However, Robbie was six feet one inch in real life.
Most of his scenes were shot from a low angle, which creates a forced perspective of him being big. The forced perspective was also used in relation to other objects.
For example, a gun used by him would be small to show that he is actually huge. Apart from this, the giant costumes and heavy beards also helped in a lot of ways.
Former English rugby union player Martin Bayfield performed as Hagrid’s stunt performer in longer shots due to his height; Martin is six feet 10 inches long.
How Many Magical Pets Did Hagrid Have?
Hagrid had various magical pets. Apart from Norbert, Fang, and Fluffy, he had several exotic and dangerous pets. His love for magical creatures dates back to his time as a student at Hogwarts.
He has a love for animals who are neglected or not cared for. This culminated into him keeping so many magical creatures. It was probably because he knows what it’s like to be an outcast, being a half-giant.
Hagrid has at least 11 creatures including the Acromantula, Aragog a big spider who mated with another one of Hagrid’s pets, Mosag. Occamy is another strange magical serpentine in his possession.
Buckbeak the Hippogriff (a bird/Pegasus hybrid), Thestrals, and a collection of Flitterby Moths are some of the creatures he cares for.
