Netflix’s action horror show ‘Resident Evil‘ was released last week and it has become the talk of the town. Developed by Andrew Dabb, the show is based on a popular video game series of the same name.
Now, it appears that the show has stormed to the number one position on the streamer’s chart. It means that ‘Stranger Things Season 4′ has now been dethroned.

Resident Evil Surpasses Stranger Things In Views
According to a report by Games Radar, the video game adaptation has topped the chart. It became the most viewed show on Netflix, surpassing the fourth season of the sci-fi horror show ‘Stranger Things’. All this despite the negative reviews and poor word-of-mouth.
It currently has a 51% Critics Score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 25% Audience Score. In contrast, Stranger Things season 4 has an 89% Critics and Audience score. While the critics praised the action sequences, the storyline pacing and deviation from the source material did not go well with people.
‘Resident Evil‘ is the third live-action adaptation of the CapCom video game after the film series of the same name and a reboot film. The series takes place in its own original universe but includes the video game series’ storyline as its backstory and basis.
There is still no official confirmation whether it will be renewed for a second season. But looking at the numbers, chances are that we might see another season.
All We Know So Far About Stranger Things 5
The fourth season of ‘Stranger Things’ was released in two parts. All the seven episodes of the first part were released on May 27 this year while the last two episodes dropped on July 1.
The season received an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and the audiences and fans are now waiting for the fifth season with bated breath. Here are a few things that we know so far.
Duffer Brothers have teased that the fifth season will be the final season of the much-beloved series. It will also be comparatively shorter than season four. The show’s writer’s room will open in August this year after the makers end their short vacation. The final season might hit the streamer in 2024 or 2025.
Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s president of scripted programs for the United States and Canada, has said that Season 5 episodes will release all at once.
He said, “We fundamentally believe that we want to give our members the choice in how they view and so, giving them that option on these scripted series to watch as much as they want to watch when they watch it, is still fundamental to what we want to provide. And so when you see something like a batched season with ‘Stranger Things,’ this is our attempt at making sure we can get shows out quicker to the members.”
