No matter how powerful a character is, they can’t be perfect. The same rule follows Zoro, who serves as one of the most important characters in ‘One Piece’. He is often referred to as the right-hand man of the Straw Hats crew, as he is not only the first mate of the future Pirate King but is also one of the characters who never leaves the crew behind.
He has undeniable loyalty towards Luffy and this is often proved by his fighting spirit whenever the team is in danger. Even though he is such a perfect person, his lack of direction makes the viewers laugh and stunned at the same time. Even at a critical moment, you will find him struggling with directions, thus arriving late at the fight scenes.

‘One Piece’ The Romance Dawn Arc: Luffy Meets Zoro For The First Time
In the anime, Zoro proves that even he can overcome his direction challenge, though only in a few instances. As far as Episode 564 is considered, there were only two incidents where Zoro proved us wrong. His crewmates, suffer due to his habit of vanishing, and one can often hear Sanji taunting him.
In a part where Zoro talks about directions, Sanji taunts him saying where did he even learn that word from. Anyways, as one can expect from Luffy, their first meeting was quite unique. Zoro already on the verge of death was crossed on a field as a bet against a Marine official.

He was already halfway through his bet when the Marine boy stated that he intends to kill Zoro before the promised day. Hearing this Luffy jumps to save Zoro from his predicament. Luffy is no better than Zoro. Just like Zoro he too is heavily and critically directionally challenged.
When Luffy started running off in another direction, thinking of the Marine base, Zoro, miraculously told him the right way to approach it. Honestly, this was pretty surprising, considering how much he himself gets lost. He pointed Luffy in the right direction, proving himself as a bit intelligent in this department.

The Sabaody Archipelago: Zoro Demonstrates His Intelligence
Another rare incident occurred when the crew dismounted at the Sabaody Archipelago. When all the crew mates were scattered here and there, site seeing, shopping, and chilling, Zoro thought why not go for a stroll? Though his idea of strolling petrified both Sanji and Usopp, the duo knew he will never make it back to his ship.
Zoro successfully surprised them with his unexpected answer according to their taunts. In the Sabaody Archipelago, there are a total of 77 trees, each marked with a specific number. The dock where the crew awaited had tree No. 41. He proudly points at the tree noting that he’ll remember the number.
Even if he gets lost, he can simply ask for directions as long he doesn’t forget the mark. Unfortunately for him, a bubble covered No. 4 in 41, resulting in him remembering tree No. 1. What more to say, he gets safely to No. 1 dock, rather than at No. 41. Although this is an example that he can find directions if he uses his brains a bit. It was not totally his fault, right?
