Paramount+ is all set to create a series on the unfortunate homicide of a six-year-old, JonBenét Ramsey. Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen are scheduled to star in the limited series. The news of the murder of the young beauty queen was not the only detail that gained traction. Many details revealed by the investigation were so fuzzy that it divided the authorities and the nation.
JonBenét Ramsey was the second and youngest child of Patricia ‘Patsy’ Ramsey and John Bennett Ramsey. JonBenét’s mother entered her six-year-old daughter in children’s beauty pageants. Patsy herself participated in similar contests when she was younger. But the child met a grisly end.
Who Was JonBenét Ramsey?
In 1996, JonBenét was found dead in the basement of the Ramsey household. The child was reported missing seven hours before she was found. The autopsy reported the cause of JonBenét’s death as asphyxiation from strangulation followed by cranial trauma. JonBenét was strangled by a garrote tied around her neck. Patsy presented the Boulder police with a two-and-a-half-page ransom letter.

The police and District Attorney were suspicious of the parents as the ransom was unnecessarily long and personal. The authorities believed that the parents were trying to cover up the murder. However, there was not enough evidence to indict them. In 2002 under the light of new evidence, the District Attorney cleared the Ramsey family of any suspicion.
Melissa McCarthy And Clive Owen To Star As JonBenét‘s Parents
Variety has reported that Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will star as Patsy and John Ramsey in the Paramount+ limited series. Chris McCarthy stated, “Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen are an extraordinary duo to delve into this tragic story that has cast a long, haunting shadow over American culture for nearly three decades.”
The idea of the series was under wraps since March before striking a deal with Paramount+: “It is the story of Patsy and John Ramsey – exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people – as husband and wife, as mother and father.”
