It has been reported that all the contracts with the actors are coming to an end at the end of season 20. So Jake Borelli’s leave is also due to budget cuts. However, Deadline also reported that Borelli “is in negotiations to return next season for several episodes to wrap up the story of his character.” So fans have no worries about Dr Levi Schmitt receiving a proper end.

Are Series Regulars Going To Face Cost-Cuts Too?

However, fans are worried about their favorite characters leaving the show because of cost-cutting.
Some sources report that series regulars might not face per-episode pay cuts but their overall compensation might reduce since their appearance in episodes will decrease. Since contracts will be renegotiated, episodic fees and camera time will likely decrease for the series regulars. ‘Grey’s Anatomy season 21’ has a very uncertain future right now.
