Julia Roberts has been in Hollywood for years and has done all kinds of films in different genres. Her films have collectively grossed over $3.9 billion globally, making her one of the most bankable names. This surely means that Roberts has worked with a lot of actors in her career.

However, one can’t get along with all of them. For the ‘Pretty Woman‘ star, it was Nick Nolte with whom she worked on the 1994 romantic comedy ‘I Love Trouble.’ Roberts said that he was “absolutely disgusting” on the set. Let’s find out what exactly happened between the two.

Roberts has had a strong relationship with her co-stars including George Clooney and Richard Gere among others. However, she notoriously didn’t get along with Nick Nolte.

In an interview with The New York Times in December 1993, Roberts said while promoting ‘The Pelican Brief‘ that Nolte was “completely disgusting” on set.

From the moment I met him we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally we get on each other’s nerves,” Roberts responded when asked about Nolte’s reputation of behaving badly on set.

She continued, “[While he can be] completely charming and very nice, he’s also completely disgusting. He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems go out of his way to repel people. He’s a kick.”

Nolte responded to Roberts’s comment about his behavior when he was promoting ‘Rittenhouse Square.’ He was asked if he had reached out to her after the film.

No, I haven’t. Though it’s buried,” Nolte said when asked if they have “buried the hatchet.” “I mean, it was absurd what we went through. It was partly my fault and a little bit of hers.

He further added, “Julia got married at the beginning of that film and it was one of those things where I just approached it all wrong.”

I Love Trouble‘ met with a mostly poor critical response but managed to gross $61 million at the box-office against a budget of $45 million.
