Matthew Perry is one of the leading stars of the most famous and ever favorite sitcom series ‘Friends.’ The show which made all its six stars achieve the top of their career has been in the run for more than 25 years now. Being a leading show, ‘Friends’ has been watched by millions all over the world, however, except Perry.
As mentioned in a recent interview with CBC, Perry said that he has never watched the show. The 53-year-old actor opened up about his struggles and why he isn’t able to watch the show even today. Let’s find out.

What Is The Reason That Matthew Perry Cannot Watch ‘Friends’?
Matthew Perry claimed that he has never been able to watch the show as it reminds him of his addictions. He recently came out with his memoir called ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’. In this book, he talks about his alcohol and drug addictions and how they consumed almost half of his life.
Perry explained this in a CBC interview, “I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 pounds, I was on ‘Friends’ getting watched by 30 million people, and that’s why I can’t watch the show, cause I was brutally thin.” He further mentions that its all very painful for him, since all he sees are the physical signs of his disease.

Matthew Perry’s Addiction Battle During ‘Friends’
Perry revealed that during the time of ‘Friends,’ he was at the highest point of his addiction. He traveled back and forth between alcohol and cocaine. He said that it was evident from his appearance on the show. When he was fat, it was alcohol and when he was thin, it was the pills.
Perry claimed that he never came to the filming drunk or high. He would always be sober, but very, very hungover. “At one point I was shaking so much that if I was gonna go from the bookshelf to the table, I’d have to quickly do it and put my hand on the table so I wouldn’t shake. It got that bad,” Matthew further said in the interview.
