One of the most talked about incidents of this year was without a date Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. It negatively affected his image and he was banned by the Academy for ten years. Another, equally sensational, thing involves Brad Pitt.
Pitt’s ex-wife Angelina Jolie alleged that the actor had physically assaulted her and their kids during a private jet flight in 2016. Both actors have done films this year that are creating Oscar buzz. However, it would be interesting to see if their actions will affect that.

Will Smith’s Oscar Fate Still In Limbo
The 2022 Oscar was something that honestly no one gave a damn about. It would have been another run-of-the-mill event if Smith had not slapped the host Chris Rock.
What followed was people taking sides, some with Smith (as he slapped the guy who mocked his wife’s baldness), some against him (the violence was a first-time thing for the event).
It got too much and the organization banned the ‘Men In Black‘ actor from attending Academy events for ten years; he later apologized to Chris via a video. Now the actor has come up with ‘Emancipation‘, a period slavery drama.
It’s clearly an Oscar bait story and Smith is a great actor. However, this time around, he will be judged on more than just his performance. The selectors might or might not overlook that tight slap. But it will set a precedence, no matter what the result, for years to come.

Brad Pitt Accused Of Physically Assaulting Jolie And Their Kids
In legal papers filed on October 4, Angelina Jolie accused Brad Pitt of physically assaulting her and two of their children in 2016 inside a private jet. The two were still married at that time and this event led to their divorce.
Pitt’s upcoming period drama is ‘Babylon’ which will be released on December 23 by Paramount. It is directed by Damien Chizelle, which makes it a strong Oscar contender.
However, the cloud of the allegations is still looming large over the ‘Fight Club‘ actor. Past examples are telling a different story. People like Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, and Mel Gibson won or were nominated despite being accused of serious crimes.
