Things are not looking good for Kanye West and his ex-collaborator Balenciaga. Both entities are facing an unprecedented backlash due to their ill steps. Ye has been in the eye of the storm since October 2022. The ‘Donda’ rapper spiraled when he received heavy backlash for his insensitive fashion statement. During Paris Fashion Week 2022, he introduced shirts with ‘White Lives Matter’ printed on them. Then, the music producer went on a hate spree criticizing Jews and scathingly attacking them on social media and other platforms.
Due to his unstoppable hate-mongering train, many fashion giants including Balenciaga cut ties with him after a successful Balenciaga and Yeezy collaboration. However, recently, Balenciaga received public backlash after two of their campaigns caught the eye of eagle-eyed users. The brand removed the campaign pictures of two kids holding a BDSM-suspended bear bag and a photo shoot including controversial federal court papers. Despite severing ties, Ye has come forward to support Balenciaga.
Kanye West Comes In Support Of Demna Gvasalia
It has been a field day for both Balenciaga and the Yeezy owner. Recently, Balenciaga posted pictures from two campaigns. For their holiday campaign, they introduced bear bags that had BDSM and S&M items harnessed to them. But, for the campaign, they cast two little girls. One girl was holding a white bear that had fishnets and a padlock choker. Another girl was holding a purple soft toy that was suspended with BDSM items. After receiving flak, the Spanish luxury brand removed the campaign.
They released an apology statement that read, “We sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused. Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms”.
In October 2022, The brand stated that “Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to the artist”. After the termination of the deal, Ye said that getting out of Balenciaga is one of his freeing days.
Now, during a social media breakdown post-Alex Jones’ show, he came in support of the brand and its creative director. In now-deleted tweets, he wrote, “I stand by Balenciaga and denounce all witch hunts and I cancel cancel culture Jesus is King Ending trafficking doesn’t start or end with a fashion campaign for Christ Sake”.

Kanye continued, “Never turn our backs Demna and the Balenciaga family for life Cancel cancel culture Jesus please”. He also tweeted, “God loves Balenciaga Love is the answer Jesus is the answer Praying for all of the innocent artist and beautiful humans who make clothing that had nothing to do with the adds [sic] Peoples grandmothers work their [sic] for Christ sake”.
The brand has taken legal action against the producers of the Adidas X Balenciaga hourglass bag campaign. They have sued Nicholas Des and North Six Inc., for not disclosing the extra props used during the shoot. The brand shot the picture in the backdrop of scattered papers. One of the papers was that of a controversial federal court decisions statement about ‘United States Vs. Williams’ case. The Spanish brand has sued the company and Nicholas Des for $25 million.
