J. Robert Oppenheimer was the force behind the development of nuclear weapons. The story of the theoretical physicist will be featured in the upcoming biographical thriller film, ‘Oppenheimer.’ The film is helmed by Christopher Nolan.
Robert was also Los Alamos Laboratory’s director during the Second World War and later gained recognition as the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ for his participation in the Manhattan Project, which also contributed to the creation of nuclear weapons. But, how did the man famous for his quote on death actually die?

J. Robert Oppenheimer’s Final Days And Death
J. Robert Oppenheimer was residing on the island of Saint John in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1954. He also established a house for himself near Gibney Beach and spent most of his time with his daughter and wife.
He used to smoke a lot and contracted throat cancer in the 60s. He had to undergo radiation therapy and chemotherapy and was in a coma. He was at his residence in Princeton, New Jersey where he passed away at the age of 62.
His memorial was organized at Alexander Hall on the campus of Princeton University and it was attended by several scientific, political, and military personalities. The memorial was also attended by Oppenheimer’s family members. His wife Kitty also passed away after suffering from intestinal infection which was a result of pulmonary embolism in October 1972.

About ‘Oppenheimer’ Biopic By Christopher Nolan
‘Oppenheimer’ is scheduled to be released on July 21, 2023, and it is directed by Christopher Nolan. The film will feature the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer and will also take elements from Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s 2005 biography, ‘American Prometheus.’
Nolan also serves as the producer alongside Emma Thomas and Charles Roven. The film is being distributed by Universal Pictures and features Cillian Murphy playing the lead role. The film has an ensemble cast that includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, and more.
