‘Jeepers Creepers’ Truck: Everything You Need To Know

Jeepers Creepers is a horror movie released in 2001 starring Gina Philips and Justin Long in the lead roles. The film was directed by Victor Salva and was a commercially successful movie. The movie’s title is taken from the name of a song released in 1938 for the movie ‘Going Places’. The song is heavily featured in the film and is an important plot point in the movie.

In the movie ‘Jeepers Creepers’, the Creeper is seen driving a truck which is a modified 1941 Chevy COE. These trucks typically feature six-cylinder engines, but if one preferred, one could also buy a four-cylinder. The owner can create a flatbed for the back and they came with a cab and a frame. The Creeper created a boxy structure for the truck so that he could hide multiple humans and dead bodies.

The Creeper transports bodies to a cave under the old church using the truck’s cowcatcher, which is installed on the front of the truck. The truck’s debilitated exterior also scares away any human being. The license plate of the truck also reads ‘BEATNGU’ which is a very creepy short form of ‘Be Eating You’. The production used a total of three similar trucks for shooting the entire movie.

In the horror movie, the truck can speed up quite a bit even after being in very dilapidated condition. Many fans wondered how it was possible that such a wrecked vehicle could travel at hyperspeed and overtake other newer vehicles. Despite its worn-out exterior, the truck is capable of reaching extraordinarily high speeds of at least 100MPH.

The fans hypothesized that the vehicle probably sports a supercharged 383 Chevrolet crate motor to increase its speed. The production installed a new Chevrolet engine with an automatic gearbox in the pickup they utilized for the pursuit sequences so it could manage the speed needed to pursue victims.

Besides that, the entire exterior of the truck was remodeled to enhance the speed and make it look extremely scary. The high speeds of the vehicle can also be attributed to the Creeper as it is able to move the vehicle according to its will. The Creeper is able to move the truck just by signaling. It is even able to summon weapons and traps using just gestures.

The original trucks used in ‘Jeepers Creepers’ and many such similar ones were used again for the filming of the sequel horror movies ‘Jeepers Creepers 2’ and ‘Jeepers Creepers 3’. After the filming for all the films finally ended, the trucks all ended up in different places. One of the trucks used in the filming of the movie was bought by a collector in California for $4559.

The truck bought by the collector was revealed to be the replica of the original one which was used in fielding. The original truck used in ‘Jeepers Creepers’ location and fate is not known. The collector has a website named The Creeper Truck where he posts pictures of the vehicle.

Many experts have since declared that the vehicle cannot be called a truck as it is not big enough to be one. It is considered to be van-like. The collector keeps making changes to maintain the vehicle and he posts the updates on his website.
