Black Cat Likely To Make Her MCU Debut With ‘Spider-Man 4’

Black Cat is a rather over-looked character from the Marvel comics, who has aced everything from being a thief to being Peter Parker’s love interest. However, her fans can now heave a sigh of relief as reports suggest that the enticing character is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe through ‘Spider-Man 4‘.

Also known as Felicia Hardy, Black cat will be seen opposite Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man 4‘. Though Spider-Man’s character has had several love interests as like Gwen Stacy or Cindy Moon as per the comics, Black Cat is a rather intriguing choice. In retrospect, she brings out the “dark side” of Spider-Man because of her criminal background. Fans can therefore expect some dark drama in the upcoming film.

It remains uncertain who will play Black Cat’s character. Anne Hathaway had previously signed up and ready to play Felicia Hardy opposite Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 4‘. But the movie fell apart when Sony Pictures decided not to continue the Raimi-Maguire storyline.

Black Cat, also known as Felicia Hardy was initially introduced as a thief in the Marvel comics. She is a skilled burglar with a complex relationship with Spider-Man. She only steals because she likes it and not because she needs it, which makes her character even a borderline kleptomaniac with a rather twisted personality.

Felicia often straddles the line between hero and villain making her character more intriguing than the others. Spider-Man wants her to use her powers for the good whereas, she wants him to unleash and embrace his rebellious side. Despite helping Spider-Man on several occasions, she falls back into her own criminal ways.

With Zendaya‘s Michelle Jones being out of the picture due to the events in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘, the timing for her inclusion could not be more perfect. This is, however, not the first time that filmmakers are contemplating her role in the movies. Sony previously had plans for a film starring Black Cat, but the film got cancelled. However, fans can now hope to see her finally hitting the screens with her dark charm.
