‘Daredevil: Born Again’ To Feature A Lighthearted ‘Ms. Marvel’ Character And It’s The Right Comedic Energy For The Dark Show

Marvel Studios is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, a show that promises to bring Matt Murdock back to his darker, street-level roots. However, that doesn’t mean the series will be devoid of lighter, more comedic elements.

One of the more intriguing details revealed recently is the inclusion of Yusuf Khan, the father of Ms. Marvel. Balancing these two shows presents an interesting challenge. However, Marvel Studios executives believe the show pulls it off seamlessly.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Sana Amanat described the challenge of integrating a character like Yusuf Khan into ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. She emphasized that while Yusuf brings a comedic energy to the show, his presence won’t detract from the series’ overall tone.

It was such a fun challenge, I have to say,” Amanat explained. “I was laughing a lot because I do think that’s the most MCU-aspect of a cameo like that, bringing some of that comedic energy. The challenge is we’re not living in the Ms. Marvel world or corner. We’re living in the Daredevil corner, so just making sure that the tone complements Matt Murdock.”

This suggests that Yusuf’s role won’t be a simple comedic detour but rather a natural part of the story. Amanat also teased “a couple of cool moments” that reference Kamala Khan. However, she clarified that they wouldn’t overshadow the main narrative. Moreover, Yusuf Khan has already had some exposure to superpowered individuals through his daughter.

So, his reaction to Matt’s double life might be more entertaining than outright shocking. Additionally, this blending of tones isn’t entirely new for Matt Murdock in the MCU. He has already stepped into lighter territory before, notably in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’.

A Major Character Won’t Make It Out Alive In ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

While ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will have its moments of humor, it’s also bringing a major gut punch to fans. Recent interviews with Charlie Cox and other cast members have hinted at a tragic moment that happens early in the series, one that Cox himself admitted left the cast shaken.

“There’s this thing that’s gonna happen that’s gonna upset a lot of people, it upset us too,” Cox revealed. “When we signed on for the job, the decision had already been made. I’m still not convinced it’s the right thing to do. But we have to come back big and bold… we’ve got to make a statement after all these years away.

The clues seem to point in one direction: the death of Foggy Nelson. For longtime fans of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’, this would be a devastating blow. Foggy Nelson was Matt Murdock’s best friend, law partner, and moral compass. The early reports about the original version of ‘Born Again’ suggested that both Foggy and Karen Page were initially written out, and killed offscreen.

Additionally, while that first iteration of the show was scrapped, it appears that some aspects of the original plan may have remained. This includes Foggy’s fate. If Foggy’s death does happen onscreen, it could serve as a major emotional catalyst for Matt’s story.
