Rather than centering the conflict on one of Spider-Man’s iconic comic-book rivals, the story reportedly focuses on Jean Grey, a mutant driven by revenge against Matzeger, a character also connected to the mutant storyline.

Of course, that takes the story in a direction that’s more toward the MCU’s growing Mutant Saga rather than just focusing on the world of Peter Parker. The film, therefore, spends a lot of time establishing concepts and relationships that may be significant for future Marvel films.
Some fans find this more expansive interpretation to be an exciting stepping stone to the next MCU era in ‘Brand New Day’. Others think it’s a departure from the grounded and earthy narrative that’s always been the hallmark of Spider-Man.
Either way, the film seems designed to do more than tell another superhero adventure. It sets up Peter Parker to be at the center of Marvel’s next adventure, and it might be even greater than the streets of New York.
