What Happens In ‘Echo’s Post-Credits Scene?
‘Echo’s post-credits is setting up Kingpin’s bid for mayor of New York City. A mid-credit scene in the finale of season one dropped an important clue about Kingpin. The scene featured Fisk on his private plane calling a meeting to stabilize his criminal enterprise after going up against Maya Lopez, who blew up an armory in Fisk’s empire and took out a lot of his weapons. He tuned into the news and watched intently as two anchors discussed the current New York City mayoral race, which might indicate a setup of Kingpin’s bid for running New York City. As Kingpin has always been a public figure, hence Kingpin thinks of himself as the perfect candidate.
The reporters on the TV said that the citizens of New York want a fighter as their mayor to deal with the city’s problems with one of the reporters saying “bare-knuckle brawler” is needed and the other asking “Is that candidate even out there?”. This leaves a bigger hint as Fisk shows interest in the news, intending to become the next NYC mayor.

How The Scene Sets Up Kingpin In ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
After ‘Echo‘, Marvel fans are excited about the upcoming live-action series ‘Daredevil: Born Again series‘, featuring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their role as Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk a.k.a Kingpin. All the speculation and rumors about Vincent D’Onofrio returning to the set seemed all true when the post-credits scene of ‘Echo‘ established that Kingpin would indeed run for mayor of New York City in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’.
The post-credit scene set up Kingpin as the possible politician, with fans drawing parallels between Kingpin and former U.S. president, Donald Trump. The way the reporters in ‘Echo‘ talk about New York City needing someone who is not a normal political candidate seems similar to Trump’s 2016 campaign, leading viewers to draw obvious parallels between Kingpin and Trump.
Also, the current storyline about Kingpin is in line with the Marvel comics as well. In the comics, Wilson Fisk runs for mayor of New York City and ends up winning. Once in office, he uses his position to wage war against vigilantes, including calling for the arrest of Daredevil. Matt Murdock decides to accept a position as Fisk’s deputy mayor, with the hidden agenda of taking down Fisk. However, it is unclear how much the writers and directors will adapt from the comics.
