“His Superpower Is His Humanity”: Anthony Mackie Talks About His Captain America Being Very Different From Chris Evans In ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

Anthony Mackie, who portrays Sam Wilson aka Falcon in the MCU is finally getting his own movie. However, it will be unlike Chris Evans‘ Captain America. ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is expected to provide a reset for the MCU.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mackie opened up about the upcoming film to serve as a ‘clear reset’. He talked about the movie reestablishing the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. In his words, “It made more sense for it (the movie) to be more of a grounded espionage action movie. As opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s–t.”

He even talked about the title of the movie itself implying a ‘new world‘. Additionally, he revealed that the movie will feature a completely new storyline with everything new, including the characters, their beliefs, and ideas.

Anthony also praised Chris Evans’ portrayal of Captain America and claimed that the two are good friends: “We have more of a friendship as opposed to the way I admired Steve or the way I didn’t like Bucky.” Additionally, Mackie also talked about the difference between his and Evans’ portrayal of Captain America previously.

Anthony Mackie, while talking to Kevin Polowy of Yahoo! Entertainment, shared the differences between his Captain America and the previous one. He revealed that, unlike Chris Evans’ Captain, he is not a superhero. “He does not have a super-serum. So his superpower is his humanity.”

While Steve Rogers was very heroic throughout his run as Captain America, Sam will have a difficult time understanding the differences between being a good and a bad guy according to Mackie. “I just see him as more of a humane Cap, as opposed to a Cap of judgment, where this is right, or this is wrong,” Anthony added.
