Rhodey
The role of Rhodey was first played by Terrence Howard. His first appearance was in the very first MCU movie, Iron Man. Howard had given a very impressive performance and his role was loved by the audience. After the first movie, there were also hints that he would appear in the next movies too. However, due to creative differences between Howard and Downey, the role of Rhodey was replaced by Don Cheadle. Over time, Don has made the role his own in the following films.
Thunderbolt Ross
The character of Thunderbolt Ross was first played by the iconic actor William Hurt. However, it was a huge loss for not only the MCU but the whole Marvel universe fans when we got the news of Hurt’s passing. With this tragic loss, it was unsure how Marvel would proceed with further films. But it was announced recently that the role of Thunderbolt Ross would now be played by Harrison Ford. He will first be appearing in the next Captain America movie, before moving on to his major role in ‘The Thunderbolts.’
The Hulk
The Hulk is one of the main characters of the Marvel team, and the recasting of this character was also one of the biggest changes. The second MCU movie, ‘The Incredible Hulk’ featured Edward Norton as the Hulk. However, when the Hulk appeared next in ‘The Avengers,’ the role was seen to be played by the very famous, Mark Ruffalo. It is not very clear why the re-casting was done. However, Mark has very beautifully owned the character, and we can’t wait to see him next as a green, raging character.
Howard Stark
Howard Stark is the father of Tony Stark, a.k.a Iron Man. The role was first given to Gerard Sanders, however, he appeared in the first Iron Man film, only through pictures and mentions. He didn’t have any physical role in it. When the role of Howard was expanded in the second Iron Man movie, the part was given to actor John Slattery. Red Skull
Red Skull is the long-known archenemy of Captain America, who first appeared in the very first Captain America film. The character was played by Hugo Weaving initially. However, when Red Skull made his entrance in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ after a long time, it wasn’t Hugo who made the appearance. It is rumored that Hugo had long ago let go of the role, due to some contractual disputes. This led to the role of Red Skull being given to Ross Marquand, who was seen in the next third and fourth installments.
Thanos
The very first appearance of Thanos in the post-credit scenes of ‘The Avengers’ actually featured Damion Poitier in the role of the Mad Titan. However, in all the subsequent movies after that, the role of Thanos has been played by one actor, Josh Brolin. Brolin’s first role was in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ where he made a brief cameo. He was then seen reprising the role in the Disney series ‘What If?’ Nevertheless, we can’t wait to see where Thanos makes his appearance next.
Fandral
One of the supporting characters in MCU, the role of Fandral was first given to Zachary Levi. However, he had to let go of the character as the shooting schedules were clashing with his TV show, ‘Chuck.’ So the contract was given to Josh Dallas, who played Fandral in ‘Thor.’ But the casting team went back to Levi again when his schedules were cleared. As a result, Levi was seen playing the role of Fandral in the next Thor movies.
Cassie Lang
The character of Cassie Lang was first delivered by actress Emma Fuhrmann, in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ However, it was very unfortunate when she was dropped from the role, as well as the MCU. Instead, the role of Cassie was given to Kathryn Newton, due to her popularity. The MCU wanted a more recognizable face with a stronger body, and Kathryn seemed to be a better fit for the casting team.
