Jharrel Jerome, the talented actor known for his role in ‘When They See Us‘, has finally broken his silence on his surprise appearance as Prowler in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’. A lot of fans assumed Shameik Moore was behind the Prowler. However, this was not the case.
Jerome’s portrayal of the villainous Miles G. Morales was a shocking twist that left audiences reeling and the actor has a lot of good things to say about the opportunity and his experience. Here’s what he said.
Jharrel Jerome Says Playing Prowler Was A Dream Come True For Him
In ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, Miles Morales who returned home to save his father was not the same Miles we had been following. The real Miles G. Morales had been stranded on Earth-42, a world where he never became Spider-Man. The Miles who returned home was, in fact, Prowler, played by Jharrel Jerome.

The actor recently opened up about this twist and his experience with the role. For Jerome, landing the role of Prowler was a dream come true. As a Dominican-American actor, he has always admired the character of Miles Morales. He was appreciative of the representation Miles provides for the Hispanic and Latino communities.
“It’s [been] a dream since I was a child to just be a part of that world in any way. Miles Morales is a specific, character as a Dominican from New York, that I’ve always dreamed of embodying and portraying,” he stated while talking to Collider. Jerome expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘ universe.
He also emphasized the importance of the film in shifting the culture for Dominicans and Puerto Ricans, especially in the mainstream animation and superhero genres. “It’s really shifting the culture for us in the mainstream in terms of animation and the superhero genre. For me to be a part of it is an honor,” he added.
Jharrel Jerome Says His Fan Base Expanded After ‘Across The Spider-Verse’
Jharrel Jerome noted that many of his previous roles were serious and adult-oriented. He claimed that his involvement in the Spider-Man franchise has allowed him to expand his fan base and connect with a younger audience. “Most of the stuff I’ve done has been very sad and for adults, and so it’s cool to kind of expand the fan base a bit and have kids like, ‘Oh my god, I love you!” he shared.
