Kelsey Grammer is returning as Beast in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, and his latest comments suggest Marvel isn’t treating the character as a simple nostalgic cameo. The actor sees Beast as one of the most important figures in the mutant community, and he believes audiences will be pleased with what Marvel has planned for him.
Beast Is More Than Just A Genius
Speaking about his return, Grammer described Beast as “the Martin Luther King of the mutant community,” highlighting the character’s moral authority and commitment to doing what he believes is right. That description fits the version of Hank McCoy audiences have seen before.

“He was slow to act, but once immersed, he is given no quarter and expects none. He’s an amazing character, an amazing man. I love playing him. I think people will be happy with what we’re doing with him in Doomsday.”
There is something compelling about that contrast. Hank can be sitting quietly discussing philosophy one moment and throwing himself into an impossible battle the next. And that’s exactly the kind of character ‘Doomsday’ could use.

Grammer’s comments are particularly interesting because he clearly seems enthusiastic about what Marvel is doing with Beast this time around. He called the character “an amazing man” and admitted that he loves playing him. Most importantly, he teased that audiences should be happy with Beast’s role in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

There is also something fitting about bringing back Grammer specifically. His Beast has always carried himself differently from many superhero characters. He’s not driven by rage or ego. His strength comes from his intelligence, principles, and willingness to stand up when it matters.
If ‘Doomsday’ gives him enough room to show all of that, Beast could end up being one of the movie’s most memorable returning characters. After all, sometimes the quietest person in the room is the one you most want beside you when everything falls apart.
