With a disastrous Phase Four, Marvel is rebuilding up its reputation with Phase Five. However, Phase Four was crucial for only two reasons – raising a whole new array of Marvel characters like He Who Remains and Shang-Chi. And, primarily to introduce the concept of the multiverse.
‘Antman and the Wasp: Qauntaumania’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3′ from Phase Five have tended to restore the lost faith of Marvel fans. Phase Five and Phase Six are yet to deliver many promising and exciting projects including ‘Secret Invasion’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘. Nevertheless, Marvel fans need to contain their excitement a little longer due to the recently updated Marvel theatrical release schedule.
Captain America: Brave New World
Previously titled Captain America: New World Order was set to release on May 3, 2024. Marvel fanatics will finally see Sam Wilson in his titular debut. Picking up after the event of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, the film will deliver a mix of allies and enemies new and old and Anthony Mackie holding up the mantle of Captain America after Chris Evans. The new release date of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is revealed to be 26 July 2024.
Thunderbolts
Previously scheduled for July 26, 2024 ‘Thunderbolts’ will now release on December 20, 2024. This is not the first change to affect Marvel’s new antihero team, Thunderbolts had already been impacted by the ongoing writers’ strike. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed the cast for the upcoming ‘Thunderbolts’ movie at the Marvel Studios panel at D23. It introduces Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah Jon-Kamen as Ghost, and Wyatt Russell will play the role of a US Agent. Taskmaster will be played by Olga Kerleynko and Florence Pugh as Black Window. Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as The Winter Soldier.
Blade
Marvel’s ‘Blade’ has been pushed to 2025. Amid the ongoing WGA strike, Marvel has to shut down the pre-production of their upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot. Part of Phase Five starts Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali alongside Mia Goth. Initially, ‘Blade’ was set to be released on 6 September 2024 but is now pushed back to 14 February 2025.

Deadpool 3
The most awaited Ryan Reynolds Deadpool threequel was to be released on 8 November 2024. Luckily, the fan’s wait has been cut short as it has been pushed up to May 3, 2024. The project began filming late last month amidst the Writers Guild of America strike. These changes in schedule might be influenced by this strike. However many familiar faces will reprise their role including Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams. Although fans are more excited for Hugh Jackman who will be reprising his role as Wolverine.
Fantastic Four
Previously scheduled for February 14, 2025, the first release of Phase Six ‘Fantastic Four’ is now scheduled for May 2, 2025. The film will be directed by Matt Shakman who also delivered the MCU series WandaVision. Although no cast members of ‘Fantastic Four’ is revealed as of yet. It was the first superhero team title that was produced by Marvel Comics which popularized famous characters like Reed Richards, Sue Storm, and Doctor Doom.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
The new release date of ‘The Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ is 1 May 2026. Previously dated 2 May 2025, ‘The Kang Dynasty’ is pushed a year back. Along with other Marvel and Disney movies, this project was also affected due to the ongoing writers’ strike. However the cast is not yet decided, but if the legal issues are cleared then Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as the titular villain.
Avengers: Secret Wars
Secret Wars will be the sixth installment of the Avengers films. It will conclude Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 6 and also The Multiverse Saga. Marvel fans have long been awaiting news of a live-action adaptation of the iconic comic book series, in which various Marvel heroes and villains are taken by a cosmic entity called The Beyonder, and they fight it on a planet called Battleworld.
