Marvel Studios has ambitious plans for the supernatural side of the MCU going forward. In a recent Q&A, a reputable Marvel insider shed some light on their intentions for the Blade movie and the upcoming supernatural-focused projects. According to him, Marvel wants to take their time exploring the supernatural realm after the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘.
Blade is integral to these plans, as Perez stated the studio wants to make Mahershala Ali’s Blade “the face of the upcoming Supernatural Saga they’ve got cooking“. However, to establish Blade as the lead of this new franchise, they need to give the character a strong solo movie to get audiences invested in him first. Only then can the potential Midnight Sons storyline truly succeed with Blade leading the way.
Blade Is Rumoured To Head The “Supernatural Saga”
At the moment, Marvel’s top priority is finding just the right story to properly introduce the character to the MCU. Inside information says the movie has been sidelined until the script gets to where it needs to be.
They don’t want to rush Blade out before it’s ready. With such big plans for the character and the supernatural side of the universe, Marvel is taking their time to ensure Blade’s first outing is a success that audiences will embrace.

Even though Blade and other supernatural characters may eventually join forces with mainstream Marvel heroes, information notes Marvel wants to initially keep these storylines separate.
Quoting Werewolf by Night, he explained they want to focus on “the darkness” and “what monsters dwell” outside the boundaries of the known universe. At least for now, projects like Blade, Moon Knight, and potentially Midnight Sons are meant to exist apart from the rest of the MCU continuity.
MCU Wants To Explore the Horrors of the Dark Dimension
One way the studio may start planting seeds for the Supernatural Saga is through ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘. The film delved into the Dark Dimension, introducing nightmarish creatures.
In the post-credits scene, Clea also warned Strange of threats emerging from this dangerous realm. As Strange and possibly Clea continue their story, more opportunities could arise to flesh out the mystical side of the universe.

While the movie has faced development issues, Marvel’s goal is clear, they want to make Mahershala Ali’s version of the vampire hunter the starting point for an entire supernatural wing of the MCU.
But first, they must ensure Blade’s solo debut is a masterstroke that sets the tone for what’s to come in the darker side of their universe. Fans will hope the film arrives sooner rather than later.
