The Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to want to delve even further into the magical side of its storytelling. A ‘Strange Academy’ series, which has been the subject of speculation for some time, is now rumored to be officially in development for Disney+.
This exciting project is said to bring together a new generation of witches, wizards, and sorcerers to train under Marvel’s most prominent magic figures. Moreover, ‘Strange Academy’ appears ready to redefine the role of magic in the MCU.
The Legacy Of ‘Strange Academy’ In Marvel Comics
While Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed the project yet, insider Daniel Richtman reports the show has moved beyond the early planning stages and is making progress. If true, this would mark the MCU’s first foray into a “school for magic” format. This sets the stage for both enchanting escapades and character-building drama.

In Marvel Comics, the ‘Strange Academy’ was founded by Doctor Strange after the restoration of magic. It was a haven for young sorcerers to master their powers and learn the responsible use of mystical artifacts. The academy’s faculty boasted an impressive lineup of magical heavyweights.
This included the Scarlet Witch, Magik, Man-Thing, and Agatha Harkness. Together, they mentored a group of students, each with unique backgrounds and powers. Among these students were Doyle Dormammu, the son of Strange’s nemesis; Eva Quintero, a dreamwalker; and Calvin Morse, a street-smart teenager with a tragic past.
This diverse ensemble makes ‘Strange Academy’ one of Marvel’s most innovative recent comic book runs. If Marvel Studios adapts the series faithfully, fans could see a fresh roster of young characters join the MCU. Additionally, previous rumors suggested that the show could tie directly into ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
The Twisted Future Of ‘Strange Academy’ In The Comics
While excitement brews for the possible Disney+ series, Marvel Comics is set to continue the ‘Strange Academy’ story in an unexpected way. In 2025, the school will return under new leadership in a limited series titled Doom Academy. This bold sequel spins out of the events of Blood Hunt (where Doctor Doom manipulated Doctor Strange into relinquishing the title of Sorcerer Supreme).

Now in control of the academy, Doom has relocated the institution from New Orleans to his homeland of Latveria. “Did you think that Strange Academy would be the same in a world with Doctor Doom as Sorcerer Supreme?! NO! It is now DOOM ACADEMY!” Marvel teased in its announcement.
Additionally, ‘Doom Academy’ is set to play a pivotal role in a larger narrative. Victor Von Doom’s rise to power will have sweeping consequences, not just for the academy but for every corner of the Marvel Universe. Moreover, the first issue of Doom Academy hits shelves on February 19, 2025.
