The Marvel Universe, whether on the screen that most of us enjoy watching, or the comics that a niche consensus of people follow, all have magic as an important element in the stories involved.
Many characters choose this magic for better or worse, but that does not mean that the powers they behold are to be neglected. Sorcerers and witches in the Marvel realm can practically do anything they want. So, if you’ve ever been curious to know who is the strongest, here are the top 10.

10. Ned Leeds
The MCU Spiderman’s sidekick/best friend, Ned Leeds, came into possession of the coveted sling ring owned by The Sorcerer Supreme in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘. Although highly untrained and basically a rookie at wielding magic, Ned Leeds still was a major part of the third MCU Spiderman movie as he conjured up portals to unite all 3 Spidermen to help push the plot forward.
Although not trained, his high intelligence and potential helped him grasp the basics of sorcery, something we’ve seen Doctor Strange struggle to do so in his first on-screen venture in 2016’s ‘Doctor Strange‘.
9. Wong
Member of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, and Stephen Stranges’ trusted companion, Wong has over time grown to be a cult hero of sorts in the MCU and has been a reliable and trustworthy addition to the League of Sorcerers. Since his introduction in 2016’s ‘Doctor Strange‘, Wong has gone on to fight against Kaecilius, Thanos, and also Scarlet Witch.
With Stephen Strange being blipped after the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘, it was Wong who took up the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme and kept a watchful eye over Earth, as its protectors were all but gone for half a decade.
8. Kaecilius
The antagonist of Doctor Strange and the Master of Mystic Arts taken the wrong way, Kaecilius is one of the finest sorcerers we’ve seen on screen. Before his shift to the Dark Dimension Magic, Kaecilius was a sorcerer who excelled in the Mystic Arts just as well as Stephen Strange and was a fair match to the Ancient One herself.
Powers stemming from Dormammu and the Dark Dimension made him a threat to be reckoned with, but Stephen Strange’s intellect along with his master sorcery was no match for Kaecilius, eventually leading to his inevitable doom.

7. Agatha Harkness
Making her silver screen debut on the Disney+ show, ‘WandaVision‘, Agatha Harkness went quickly from a forgettable side character at the beginning of the show, to an astounding and powerful witch, capable of the worst (or the best) when it comes to dark magic.
Agatha in the Marvel show, went toe-to-toe against Wanda Maximoff and even resisted her magic, also overpowering Wanda’s mind control on people at Westview using her abilities. For this alone, Agatha deserves a spot on this list, and it is yet to be known the full extent of her powers, which will hopefully be revealed in ‘Agatha All Along‘.

6. Sylvie
Sylvie, who is the MCU’s Loki variant, was first introduced in the self-titled Disney+ series, ‘Loki‘. Sylvie is a variant of Loki, but unlike the ones we’ve seen before she excels in using her magic abilities and does so to keep the TVA away from her trails.
A glimpse of her magical abilities was portrayed when she used her Asgardian Magic in the TVA headquarters where magic is not able to be in function. The full extent of her magical abilities will only be uncovered as the story goes on.
5. Loki
Just like Sylvie, Loki in the Disney+ show is also a variant, stemming from the events that unraveled in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame‘. This variant of Loki is completely different from the ones we’ve seen before as the events of ‘Loki‘ season 1 and 2 help him master his Asgardian Sorcery.
This Loki Variant has gained the power of Time Slipping, which ultimately gives him power over time and space itself, making him one of the, if not the strongest sorcerer in the MCU at the moment.
4. The Ancient One
Stephen Strange’s guru and mentor, the Ancient One, as the name suggests, was the longest holder of the title of Sorcerer Supreme, and that comes with the fact that she was also one of the strongest ones there was.
Master of The Mystic Arts and excelled in Mirror Dimension Magic, she paved the way for Strange to take up the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme and also was one of the few sorcerers who actually accessed the Dark Dimension without being engulfed by it.
3. Sinister Strange
Variants seem to be a major aspect of this list and this variant is nothing but less. Sinister Strange, the evil variant of Doctor Strange is one that has been corrupted by the Dark Magic and its book of spells, The Darkhold.
With the help of Dreamwalking, an ability to take control of other variants in other realities, Sinister Strange is one of the most powerful and darkest sorcerers we have seen. With all his abilities, he was even able to defeat the Earth-616 Doctor Strange in their battle.
2. Doctor Strange
From a gifted neurosurgeon to one of the strongest sorcerers in his universe, Stephen Strange is one of the strongest and finest to be part of the Masters of The Mystic Arts. Several characters such as the Ancient one and Wong have deemed him to be the strongest of them all and he has proved this time and time again as well.
Being a master of the Mirror Dimension Magic, manipulation of time, and also the Eldritch, Strange is one of the only few except the Ancient One to utilize the Darkhold without letting it corrupt him. All of this helps him solidify his position as the strongest sorcerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
1. Scarlet Witch
First introduced to viewers in the post-credit scene of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ Wanda Maximoff was someone who received their otherworldly powers from an experiment conducted on the Maximoff twins with the aid of the mind stone. Wanda used them to fight alongside The Avengers, but the loss of her love, Vision, sent her into a spiraling episode of madness and delusions of an alternate life, which led us to the Disney+ show, ‘WandaVision‘.
In her desperation to regain the life she had with Vision, she imprisoned an entire town under her spell. Her fractured outlook on reality due to grief ended up with the once heroic Scarlet Witch turning into a villain and even forced Doctor Strange to go against her to keep the flow of time intact. This alone shows us the extent of her powers as her magic was strong enough to keep a whole town of people under her spell and her termination of the “Illuminati” in the ‘Multiverse of Madness‘ shows the true extent of her powers.
