While Marvel fans are no strangers to searching for clues everywhere, Robert Downey Jr. might have upped the ante. The patches on his ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ jacket may be a sign of one of the biggest twists in the film: Battleworld.
The Jacket Could Be A Battleworld Easter Egg

The theory links Downey’s jacket to the 2015 Secret Wars storyline where Doctor Doom is the ruler of Battleworld after manipulating reality. The heroes in this new world have no recollection of their past lives; they have just awakened in a completely different reality.

According to reports, Downey’s jacket features patches of characters, companies, and locations related to the MCU, like Ghost Rider, Hulk, Shang-Chi, Deadpool, Doom, and the Fantastic Four. There are even more interesting patches that are a little more bizarre: Obadiah’s Oil Change, Bucky’s Tires, Doctor Shrink, Suze and Vizel Woman.
Why would a ‘Doomsday’ jacket have references such as these? The Battleworld theory makes the most sense. Instead of simply showing familiar heroes in their normal MCU lives, Doom could create an entirely new reality where familiar characters exist in altered circumstances.
A business themed around Hulk would suddenly make sense; a Bucky shop or a place with a connection to the Fantastic Four would suddenly make sense, as everything was built from parts of various realities. That’s absolutely nuts. And it feels very Marvel.
Could ‘Doomsday’ Lead Directly Into ‘Secret Wars’?

The most substantial portion of the theory is that Doom might be able to beat the heroes, change reality, and establish his own version of Battleworld. That would leave ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ with a huge cliffhanger and pave the way for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

The basic structure is the same as the 2015 comics: Doom is on top of Battleworld, the remaining heroes are spread across various domains, and many don’t know anything about their previous lives. The truth will eventually emerge, the heroes will come together to fight Doom, and the multiverse will be restored.
There are obvious reasons not to assume Marvel will copy that story exactly. The MCU has already changed countless elements from the comics. However, Downey’s jacket is a fascinating little hint. Maybe the patches mean absolutely nothing. Maybe they’re simply fun references for fans.
If Doom does indeed bring about the end of the world by creating a bizarre new reality, however, then fans might see that jacket and come to understand that Marvel was subtly hinting at the solution all along. And honestly, that would be a very Marvel way to spoil the biggest twist without actually spoiling it.
