In 2021, Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced fans to Shang-Chi, described as the greatest martial artist alive, he has been trained since birth to be the ultimate fighter. ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ was an unexpected hit for Marvel Studios and was the first Marvel film to be made by an Asian director and predominantly starring an Asian cast.
Shortly after the release of the movie Marvel Studios confirmed that it is in the works for its sequel, but no updates have been announced other than Marvel films being delayed due to the Writers’ Strike. But recently, Simu Liu became the bearer of bad news regarding ‘Shang-Chi 2‘.

Simu Liu Shares Disappointing News About ‘Shang-Chi’ Sequel
Shang-Chi was a hit for Marvel despite being released when the box office was still coping with the COVID-19 hit. The movie reportedly made $224.5 million domestically and $432.2 million globally. According to a recent post by Liu on the trending social media site Threads, the ‘Shang-Chi‘ sequel was initially scheduled to premiere “after Avengers.”

Will Shang-Chi Appear In ‘Avengers 5’?
Simu Liu cemented his position after his debut in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings‘. After ‘Shang-Chi‘, Destin Daniel is set to helm ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’. And fans have started to speculate about the possibility of Liu reprising his role in the film. During an interview with ComicBook.com last year Liu responded to the rumors by saying, “I would think so…I would hope so. Don’t take my word for it.”
He further continued. “It feels incredible. I obviously learned about the news a little bit before the rest of the world did, but I freaked out, I sent him like forty texts in a row, all exclamation marks. I’m just so incredibly happy for him, he’s so deserving of that spot”. Simu Liu also added, “What makes him such a special filmmaker, and I’ve said this from the beginning even when we were premiering our movie is his ability to make a $150 million movie really, really small, in the best possible way.”
“I’m really looking forward to what he does on that even grander scale of The Avengers because I think it’s easy to maybe get lost in the spectacle of what those movies can be, the vastness and the grandness of it, but if you can maintain the humanity and the human stories, I think that’s what will make a movie memorable and special, and I think Destin’s got it. I think he’s got it and I think he deserves this so much. I’m so excited to get to work for him again”, Simu Liu expressed his excitement for Destin Daniel landing the upcoming Marvel project.
