The Star Lord Villain Theory Reveals Why His ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 3’ Ending Took Nine Years

James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ franchise has become one of Marvel’s most popular superhero teams. As the weirdest team in the comics, it has gained a lot of love from fans since the third part of the franchise made a complete arc and revealed Rocket Raccoon as the secret protagonist throughout the series.

Apart from James Gunn’s cinematography magic, the fans could not get over Peter Quill’s charismatic charm and personality. However the recent episode of ‘What if…?’ Season two created an alternate theory to Peter Quill’s younger variant taking a villainous turn.

Peter Quill finally got his closure in ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3’ when he returned to Earth to reunite with his grandfather. In ‘What If…?’ season 2, episode 2, proved exactly why Quill’s return to Earth took so long, as the variant of Peter Quill seen in ‘What If…?’ hadn’t been through the same growth, and became the villain due to this.

Season two has proved that if Peter Quill stayed on Earth and realized his Celestial abilities, he would have transformed into one of the MCU’s youngest and most powerful villains. ‘What if’s’ season two plot of Peter Quill becoming a villain hints that he did not find Earth as homely and welcoming as her always imagined. Hence Quill returning to Earth in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ after retiring from the team, to start a new life with his grandfather, most likely will not remain peaceful.

After the successful run of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’, the actors confirmed that they won’t be reprising their roles in the MCU’s future. However, Chris Pratt is the only actor who has revealed to continue his journey in the MCU. After Vol. 3, Quill’s story needs to continue in the MCU, as his return to Earth doesn’t just pose the opportunity for a happy ending, but also for an exploration of Quill embracing his roots more genuinely.

Currently, it is unclear whether Chris Pratt will return as Peter Quill, additionally ‘What If…?’ also did not drop any hints but Peter Quill’s journey in the MCU has not come to an end yet and will most probably be seen in the Multiverse Saga but as an Earth-based superhero.
