‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Villain Knull’s Comics Backstory And Powers Explained

With the release of the latest trailer for ‘Venom: The Last Dance‘, fans have been given their first look at the film’s probable antagonist Knull. The villain is set to pose the biggest threat yet to symbiote hosts Eddie Brock and Venom.

Knull made his comic book debut years ago and has since become a fan-favorite enemy within Marvel lore. Though adaptations often take creative liberties, understanding Knull’s history and abilities in the source material is a bit more complicated. His live-action debut now has the potential to elevate the ‘Spider-Man spin-off series to new heights. With an epic showdown on the horizon, let’s dive into Knull’s origins and range of formidable powers as established in the Marvel comics.

Knull Has Dark Beginnings

Within Marvel lore, Knull is among the oldest entities in existence, coming into being near the beginning of the known universe. He rules over the darkness between all realms from his shattered homeworld. Seeking to return his domain to endless shadows, Knull waged wars that tore apart worlds.

It was through this chaos that Knull discovered the inherent power of the Living Abyss, a force he used to forge the first symbiote. Knull was crafted as a vastly powerful force that was there even before time within the cosmos. With his black dragons spread far, Knull built a hive mind to control the symbiotic armies.

He embarked on a crusade to impose his rule through darkness across the cosmos. Only the combined might of mighty heroes could eventually overthrow the primordial god’s genocidal conquest. Even then, Knull was never truly destroyed, merely imprisoned by his own creations. This level of power and authority put him on par with even Thanos, making him an Avengers level threat.

As the lord of symbiotes, Knull commands a vast amount of abilities both physical and mystical. He possesses high invulnerability and vast superhuman strength capable of matching the mightiest warriors. His body can generate blasts of destructive dark magic to rend entire worlds. Perhaps most formidably, the villain maintains domination over the symbiotes through a psionic hive mind.

It was from these first symbiotic bonds that characters like Venom emerged. Separated from Knull, the symbiotes developed into complex entities reflecting traits of honor and emotion foreign to their creator. They chose the name Klyntar and established a new society apart from their host’s shadow, though Knull’s power ensured he could never truly be destroyed, only sealed away from his creations.

As the final installment in Sony’s Venom films, Knull looks to push the trilogy to new heights with his immense cosmic might. The new trailer has teased an eerily compelling villain fixated on reclaiming dominion over the symbiotes, particularly Venom. The villain promises to bring chaos to new levels against even the combined forces of Eddie Brock and Venom. Their battle to stop the primordial god’s invasion may prove to be their most terrifying adventure yet.
