‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Comic Arc
The movie is based on the war of Atlantis storyline. According to the comics, Atlantis was a small continent that later became submerged underwater. There was a race of people called homo mermanus that resided there. They later came to be known as Atlanteans, they have two fish-like gills in the neck region, and also green or blue pigmented skin.
The celestial beings who sent the land underwater were mainly introduced in ‘The Eternals‘. However, in the film, the MCU character Namor (Tenoch Huerta) is changed from the Prince of Atlantis to the ruler of Talocan. He is projected as the main villain and as Wakanda is left vulnerable after the death of its protector Talocan, he attacks to take the throne.
