Fans of the mini-sized superhero franchise loved Michael Peña‘s character Luis. Scott Lang’s best, Luis, is a former thief who changes his ways and enters the security business. An unmatched comic relief, Luis tends to give a long narration of stories rather than telling them in brief. However, he’s nowhere to be found in ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.’
People have noticed the fan-favorite character’s absence from the 31st movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ‘Quantumania‘ finally takes us to the Quantum Realm and introduces Kang, but Luis isn’t a part of this. Director Peyton Reed discusses the decision not to have Luis in ‘Quantumania.’

Including Luis Didn’t Make Sense in ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’
In his conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, director Peyton Reed explains why Luis is not a part of the movie, saying it didn’t serve the story to include his character and others. Michael Peña’s storytelling scenes in the previous ‘Ant-Man‘ films were the best comedic moments in all Marvel movies.
Peyton Reed says, “There were no versions of this movie [with Luis]. There are a lot of characters in the movie. We obviously have our Lang, van Dyne and Pym family, but then we also introduced Kang, M.O.D.O.K., and all of our Freedom Fighter characters.”
The director Peyton Reed adds, “So we had to make decisions early on about what stories we could tell and what stories we couldn’t tell. I love those characters.” Peyton Reed also cites a particular focus on characters as a reason for benching Michael Pena’s character in the movie.
“They were really, really fun and part of the Lang family, but as we got further and further into [development] and knew we wanted to bring the family into the Quantum Realm pretty early in the movie, it just didn’t make sense [to include Luis and co.],” explains the ‘Ant-Man‘ director.

‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania’ Performance
Perhaps including Michael Peña’s fast-talking Luis could have a good idea for the ‘Ant-Man‘ franchise. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 47% by critics, ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania‘ has tied with ‘Eternals‘ for the lowest score for a Marvel movie.
Despite the anticipation around Kang, ‘Quantumania‘ hasn’t fared well with critics. The third film in the ‘Ant-Man‘ trilogy that takes place in the Quantum Realm has received mostly mixed reviews. The lack of critical welfare is attributed to the movie’s overloaded expository dialogue and generic CGI.
However, the audience rating for ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania‘ is 74 %. It seems people can’t get enough of the superhero fare and are particularly praising Jonathan Majors as Kang. The breakout star from ‘The Last Black Man In San Francisco‘ has won acclaim for portraying many versions of Kang the Conqueror. He is set to star in upcoming Marvel movies as the greatest threat to the Avengers.
