‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ could be about a different kind of problem for Peter Parker. His new abilities might just be the result of his powers maturing, but one theory claims that Peter has already been infused with a symbiote.
Peter’s New Powers Could Be Symbiote Powers
The concept is particularly intriguing as ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ left behind a small piece of the Venom symbiote in the MCU’s Earth-616. Eddie Brock was brought back to his universe, but the symbiote fragment stayed behind. If that piece ever got to Peter, it might help to explain some of his new powers.

Peter in ‘Brand New Day’ is quite different from what the audience has witnessed. The fact that he is more aggressive, out of control, and has black-eye imagery and sudden bursts of power may be pointing towards the symbiote.
In ‘No Way Home’, when Eddie sees Peter, Venom instantly recognizes him, indicating that the symbiote’s hive-mind is aware of Spider-Man. So if the remaining fragment eventually bonded with Peter, it wouldn’t necessarily need to be introduced as a completely new threat. And, let’s be honest, it would be a pretty smart scheme.
Marvel Could Be Saving The Symbiote Reveal
The most important thing is whether Marvel will let us know about Peter’s relationship with the symbiote in Brand New Day or hold it for a bigger story in the Multiverse. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ may be able to reveal what’s been going on in Peter’s life.

It would also make sense, given that Marvel has taken inspiration from the iconic black-suit story from the comics on numerous occasions. And a symbiote taking advantage of that loneliness could make his struggle much more personal. Peter might feel his abilities are morphing. But if this theory is right, the real danger isn’t Peter becoming stronger. It’s Peter slowly losing control of himself.
