Donnie Yen To Reprise His Role In ‘John Wick’ Spin-Off Movie About Blind Assassin Caine

No doubt John Wick Universe is among one of the most loved movie series. It’s packed with action, thrill, and a great storyline. With four successful John Wick movies, there’s another spin-off movie with Donnie Yen’s character Caine on the board.

The character last appeared in ‘John Wick 4’ from Lionsgate. He’s ready to reprise his role for his character and shooting for the same is all set to begin in Hong Kong from the next year.

Caine The Blind Assassin To Make A Comeback In ‘John Wick’ Spin-off Movie

Lionsgate has another John Wick movie waiting with Donnie Yen. The production is all set to begin in Hong Kong. The story is written by Robert Askins. The plot details are kept a secret from the public but the sources and makers say that it “will continue Yen’s story arc following the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table.”

The film is under development under Chad Stahelski, John Wick’s director. The movie will also be accompanied by Stahelski and Wick producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee of the production company Thunder Road.

Adam Fogelson, chair, of Lionsgate Motion said during an announcement, “From the moment Donnie Yen appeared on screen in John Wick: Chapter 4, he captivated audiences and created an authentic, emotional connection that left an indelible mark and had fans asking for more.”

Donnie Yen talking about his experience working in ‘John Wick 4’ said: “Working on John Wick: Chapter 4 was an extraordinary experience“. He added, “The reason these films resonate so deeply is because, like myself, Chad, Basil, and Erica push themselves to create action, fights, and stunts that are not only thrilling, inventive and artistic, but also expressive of character, story, and emotion”. 

He also added, “Caine is an incredible character with a haunted past, and I am excited to return to the role.”

The announcement came as a surprise because the actor also shared his interest in doing a movie for his character. He said, he “love” to do a spinoff centered on Caine. For now, the new John Wick movie will hit the theatres on June 6, 2025.
