Baz Luhrman’s ‘Elvis,’ starring Austin Butler, was a dizzying and glittering biopic about the one and only Elvis Presley. However, it provided no whatsoever insight into Priscilla Presley‘s life. Filmmaker Sofia Coppola is righting this wrong with her ‘Priscilla’ biopic starring Cailey Spaeny in the titular role.
‘Priscilla’ is the story of Priscilla and Elvis’ relationship from the perspective of the woman who stood by her man despite the emotional toll it took. The Elvis Presley estate, however, has taken offense over the movie. They are upset with Sofia Coppola’s depiction of Graceland, calling in a cheap, classless interpretation.

Objections To Graceland’s Depiction In ‘Priscilla’
Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’ is not going to be on the radar of the Elvis Presley estate’s radar. They are reportedly upset with Coppola’s vision for Graceland. Unsurprisingly, the 78-year-old former actress’ story is being hijacked to protect Elvis Presley’s myth.
An estate official told TMZ that Sofia Coppola’s adaptation of ‘Elvis And Me’ looks “like a college movie.” The sensitivity regarding Graceland makes no sense. By the admission of many tourists who visit it, Presley’s final resting place has been referred to as “tacky” and “kitsch” on many occasions. Hopefully, the estate can be supportive of Priscilla Presley.

Priscilla Presley Gives The Film Her Blessing
Priscilla Presley has given Sofia Coppola’s movie her blessing. The ‘Naked Gun’ actress shared the exciting news through her Instagram account, “I am excited about the interpretation of my book by the masterful Sofia Coppola. “She has such an extraordinary perspective and I have always been such an admirer of her work. I’m certain this movie will take.”
Based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir ‘Elvis And Me,’ Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’ stars Cailee Spaeny in the titular role. Jacob Elordi plays Elvis Presley. The synopsis of the film reads, “When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend.” The film is set for an October 2023 release by A24.
