Harry Styles, Olivia Wilde, Florence Pugh, and Chris Pine starrer ‘Don’t Worry Darlings‘ garnered a lot of praise for the cast of the film. A psychological thriller by Wilde, it is centered around a simulated world created by men where they live their dream life with their partners fitting into perfect traditional wife shoes.
Apart from its stellar performances, the film also garnered attention for a certain controversy surrounding the cast. Here’s what Florence Pugh has to say addressing the controversy.
Florence Pugh Brushes Off Question About ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Controversy

“There’s so many times when I’ve been doing press for a movie and I am asked questions about [Don’t Worry Darling],” she told British Vogue, “and I always think it’s unfair to take the space away from the movie that I’m talking about.” She added, “So I’m going to politely move away from that.”
She has addressed this last year as well, when she told Vanity Fair, “Ideally I don’t really want to be going down the Don’t Worry Darling conversation because this whole release for The Wonder has been so positive. And I’ve been really excited to talk about that. I don’t really feel the need to go into the nitty-gritty details of Don’t Worry Darling.”
What Was The ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Controversy?
There were alleged conflicts between Florence Pugh and director Olivia Wilde prior to the premiere of ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘. A source cited by US Weekly claimed that the two had “several disagreements personally and professionally”.
According to reports, Pugh “severely limited” her appearances in the media to support the movie. She walked the red carpet alongside her cast mates at the Venice Film Festival, but she did not attend the film’s New York premiere or the press conference there.

In August 2020, Shia LaBoeuf—who had been slated to play Pugh’s on-screen spouse—left the movie, and Harry Styles took her place. Wilde apparently fired LeBouf to create a “safe, trusting environment” on set. Wilde said, “I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work. His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions.” LeBoeuf denied this, saying he didn’t have enough rehearsal time and that’s why he left.
Furthermore, there were apparently pay disparities between Pugh and Styles, leading to more tension between the lead stars.
