Did Florence Pugh Skip ‘Don’t Worry Darling’s Venice Press Conference Because Of A Fallout With Olivia Wilde?

Olivia Wilde had donned the director’s hat for the second time for the psychological drama ‘Don’t Worry Darling.’ The film stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as a young couple in the 1950s living in a company town. As the story progresses, the two realize the sinister plots hiding in plain sight.

Since the beginning, the film has been marred with controversies. From the MPA chopping out scenes from its trailer to the exit of Shia LeBeouf. Wilde’s second directorial venture, ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘ will have its premiere at the 79th Venice Film Festival on Monday. Pugh will be missing from its press conference at the festival.

According to a report from Variety, the 26-year-old actress reached Venice by private jet and will be attending the red carpet premiere of the film. Wilde and Styles arrived a day before the premiere.

There were reports that Pugh has limited her promotional activities for the thriller. Many are attributing it to her fallout with Wilde. Apparently, Pugh wasn’t comfortable with the love blossoming between Wilde and Styles on the film’s set.

She is also filming for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer‘ and will be joining the production of ‘Dune: Part Two’ in Budapest.

According to initial reports, Wilde had fired Shia LaBeouf from the film and the studio attributed it to “scheduling conflicts.” Recently, Wilde talked about it in an interview.

She said, “I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work. His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require a combative energy, and I don’t personally believe that is conducive to the best performances.

But Shia has refuted her claims and explained that he left the film because of inadequate timing for rehearsals. The ‘Transformers‘ actor shared multiple screenshots of the mail he had sent to Wilde on August 2020. He also shared a video of Wilde talking about him.

Don’t Worry Darling‘ is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on September 23 after its Venice premiere.
