It’s been more than 60 years since the first James Bond movie came out and became almost a cult in itself. 007 has ever since become an iconic character in the history of film heroes. 27 movies have been released and six actors have played the role of Bond over the course of history.
Among all the stars and stories, which actor impressed the audience most? Now that we are awaiting the official announcement of who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond in future films, let’s take a look at the Bonds who won people’s hearts.
Sean Connery was the first James Bond and appeared in the film ‘Dr. No’ in 1962. He played Bond from 1961–1967, then from 1970–1971, and from 1982–1983. There were many who became the 007 but the original is original after all. Even after more than half a century people still admire his skills.
George Lazenby appeared in only one Bond film, ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ in 1969. He was a little-known Australian actor at the time. Although people were not happy with his acting, Lazenby was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. Not to mention but he is considered the worst Bond so far.
Roger Moore has played James Bond more than any other actor. He appeared in seven movies from 1973-1985. His eyebrow-raising laid back and charming portrayal are hard to forget. He is the most well-mannered of Bonds too.
Timothy Dalton brought a new perspective to the character after the retirement of Roger Moore in 1985. He only played Bond in two movies ‘The Living Daylights’ and ‘Licence to Kill’. The Bond in his movie was fierce and dark. However, even his dark personality did not please the audience as many critics said that he did not fully understand the character.
Pierce Brosnan took over the role of James Bond after the retirement of Timothy Dalton from the role in 1994. Brosnan was the last actor to play 007 before the ball went into Craig’s court. He appeared in four films from 1995 to 2002 namely, ‘GoldenEye’, ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, ‘The World Is Not Enough’, and ‘Die Another Day‘.
Daniel Craig‘s first bond movie ‘Casino Royale‘ came out in 2006. At first, people were outraged by this non-conventional casting of James Bond however Craig proved them wrong with his skills. By far he has been 007 for the longest time in the industry from 2006 to 2021 and has appeared in five films.
