Ottessa Moshfegh’s turpitudinous novel ‘Eileen‘ is now a movie. The film has an impressive cast, with Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie playing the central duo in the movie. ‘Eileen‘ is a Hitchcockian story of an isolated young woman’s friendship with a brilliant co-worker. Things soon take a dangerous, upending both of their lives.
Author Otessa Moshfesgh will co-produce with Luke Goebel, William Oldroyd, Stafanie Azpiazu, and Anthony Bregman. Peter Cron and Johnny Holland are also producers of the movie. Moshfegh, the author of ‘Eileen,’ also wrote the film’s screenplay.

The movie ‘Eileen’ is based on Ottessa Moshfegh’s suspense-thriller novel of the same name. The book is set in 1960s New England. A young woman named Eileen (Thomasin McKenzie) works at a prison as a secretary. She has a home life and a dark disposition and longs to leave her house.
Soon, things change for her. The arrival of charismatic Dr. Rebecca St. John (Anne Hathaway) gives her little hope for a better life. Soon, this relationship turns into a parasitic relationship of dangerous give and take. As Eileen comes out on her own, she might tap into something sinister she knew before.

Which Role Is Anne Hathaway Playing In ‘Eileen’?
Anne Hathaway is bringing Otessa Moshfegh’s brilliant in-house therapist, Dr. Rebecca St. John, to life. Thomasin McKenzie will play the titular Eileen, while Shea Whigham will play Eileen’s father, Jim Dunlop. Owen Teague will play Randy, and Sam Nivola will play Lee Polk. Other cast members include Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Marin Ireland, and Jefferson White.
Written by Ottessa Moshfegh and Luke Goebel and directed by William Oldroyd, ‘Eileen’ premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 21, 2023. Currently looking for distribution, it does not have a theatrical release date.
