At the premiere, an interviewer of Entertainment Tonight pointed out how many fans believe the new film could be a “requel” or a remake with plenty of room for Jenna Rink to appear again. And, Jennifer Garner’s reaction to these rumors couldn’t have been more enthusiastic, or more mysterious.

Garner instantly reacted, saying, “Amazing. That sounds fun. Hello”. The actress seemed genuinely delighted by the possibility, though no one knows what surprise she is hiding behind that elusive answer.

As of now, she maintains that she isn’t creatively involved in making the film. Although she serves as an executive producer on the movie, Garner is discovering the film much like we are.

She told E! News, “I didn’t work on the script for ’13 Going on 30′. So, I don’t really know what it’s going to be, but I think people will have a blast watching it. That little Emily, she’s adorable.”

“Yes, it’s going to Toronto. It was so successful in England. It still has a life. I can’t wait to go see Lucie Jones in that. That’s really fun.” Garner said. She also paid tribute to its late director, Gary Winick, who died of brain cancer just a few years after the film’s release.

“I’m so excited. I’m thrilled, and I feel like the legacy of our director Gary Winick, who died of brain cancer in just 5 years after we wrapped that movie or around that time. It just makes me so happy, like it’s just ‘Hi Gary, Great Job’ you know.”

At the same time, she also took a moment to praise her longtime co-star Judy Greer, explaining why their on-screen chemistry has remained so memorable over the years.

“I don’t know. She makes me laugh.” She said, “Judy brings out just a different side in every line that she delivers, and a different side in every person that she interacts with. She’s truly wholly authentic, funny, warm, lovely, brilliant.”

Announced by Netflix in March of 2026, the ’13 Going on 30′ reimagining will be written by Hannah Marks and Flora Gleeson and directed by Brett Haley, with Garner serving as an executive producer.

Rather than retelling the 2004 film, the movie introduces a new protagonist, Grace Fischer, a 13-year-old girl raised by two dads whose magical wish will take the audience back to the familiar coming-of-age time-travel premise.

According to reports, Emily Bader will play the adult Grace, while Logan Lerman stars as her love interest, Ollie Brown. In fact, Netflix is also taking extra care to cast younger actors who will portray the teenage versions of the pair to make sure that iconic body-swap premise stays the same and preserves the heart that made ’13 Going on 30′ such a beloved classic.
