Melissa Barrera who starred in the fairly successful ‘Scream‘ in 2022 and 2023’s ‘Scream VI’ was sacked from further sequels of the movie. This happened last year in November after the 33-year-old actor’s pro-Palestine statements.
Melissa was recently spotted at the Sundance Film Festival. She appeared there for the screening of her new indie movie ‘My Monster’ and spoke about her tryst with ‘Scream‘ films.

Melissa Barrera Considers ‘The ‘Scream’ Firing As An Awakening Call
The Mexican-origin actor advocated heavily on social media for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. She called for the cease of the “genocide,” “ethnic cleansing,” and “(conditions) like a concentration camp” in her posts.
Melissa retaliated later posting, “First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia. I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people.”
In her latest statement during the festival, she recalled the discharge event in good graces stating to the Associate Press, “Honestly, I feel like I finally am becoming who I am supposed to be in life. The last three months have been awakening of that……… “I’m just so grateful for everything that’s happened.”

Who Else Has Exited The ‘Scream’ Film Series?
Following Melissa’s departure, Jenna Ortega also exited from the series. Her reason for it was told to be due to her shooting of ‘Wednesday‘. However, the Hollywood Reporter believes the reason was pay disputes.
The director of ‘Scream VI’ Christopher Landon who denied his involvement in the firing of Melissa Barrera in a now-deleted post also announced his retiral. He referred to the project as “a dream job that turned into a nightmare.”
