The Conjuring Universe is getting ready to bring back the very beginnings of its most famous paranormal investigators, and this time, it’s a new generation of actors that will be at the helm.  After ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’, the next installment in the series is a prequel titled ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’. 

The film will take the story back to the beginning and feature new faces for the iconic pair Ed and Lorraine Warren.First Communion’ is already in production, marking a new chapter in one of horror’s most successful shared universes.

‘The Conjuring: First Communion‘ will feature Amanda Fix and Garrett Wareing as the young couple, according to DreadCentral. The prequel will take place in a different timeframe in the lives of these legendary paranormal investigators. However, Warner Bros. hasn’t given any official details of the plot.

Directed by Rodrigue Huart from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, the film remains shrouded in mystery. It is also unknown whether longtime franchise stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will return in any capacity as the older versions of the Warrens.

This is one of the biggest changes in the franchise’s history. Wilson and Farmiga have been synonymous with the characters for more than 10 years, so it’s both exciting and bittersweet for longtime fans to see younger actors take on the roles.

A Horror Universe That Keeps Growing

‘The Conjuring: First Communion’ will be the eleventh movie in the Conjuring Universe. The franchise has already launched several spin-offs, such as the ‘Annabelle’ and ‘The Nun’ franchises. The films have covered decades of time, slowly developing one of the most iconic cinematic worlds in modern horror.

Warner Bros. is also continuing to invest in the supernatural franchise outside of this prequel. A sequel to ‘The Curse of La Llorona’, ‘Revenge of La Llorona’ is set to release on April 9, 2027. ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’ is slated for release on September 10, 2027.

The news is yet another reminder to horror fans that the Conjuring Universe is far from over. Many viewers have become fond of Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s acting. However, seeing the Warrens’ tale unfold with a younger cast might be a refreshing change.
