‘The Silencers’ Was The First Movie With A Post-Credits Scene
The spy comedy ‘The Silencers‘ is notable for being the first film to have a post-credits scene. The film stars Dean Martin as Matt Helm, a secret agent brought out of retirement to prevent the sabotage of the American atomic Missile System. Helm is assisted by agents by Tina (Daliah Lavi) and Gail (Stella Stevens).
James Bond movies ended with a text card that read “James Bond Will Return.” In the spirit of parody, the Dean Martin film ends with a scene with him being surrounded by a bevy of barely dressed women on a bed. The title card preceding the scene read “Coming Up Next.”
But the movie that made post-credits scenes part of cinema was ‘The Muppets Movie.’ At the end of the film, the Muppets ask the audience to leave since the movie is already over. This trend caught on, with those scenes now widely used to set up a potential sequel.

Kevin Feige’s Love For The Post-Credits Scene
Marvel boss Kevin Feige’s love affair with post-credits scene began with ‘Ferris Bueler’s Day Off,’ which for him “was the greatest thing in the world,” according to Entertainment Weekly. While making ‘Iron Man,’ it was decided that the post-credits scene would give the audience an idea of what’s in store for the future.
The 2008 ‘Iron Man‘ is the first MCU movie to feature a post-credits scene. The scene introduces Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury waiting for Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Fury wastes no time telling Stark about other superheroes, introducing him to Avengers Initiative.
